WHO ARE THE BOOSTERS?
The Boosters are an organization of parents of Dakota students.  If you have a child at Dakota,
you ARE a Booster!  Your child does not have to participate in sports for you to be active in the
Boosters.
WHAT DO THE BOOSTERS DO?
The Boosters work at various activities throughout Dakota to raise money that goes back into
Dakota for various functions.  Sports teams as well as academic areas receive assistance from
the Boosters.
WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO DO TO BECOME A BOOSTER?
You don't have to DO anything to BECOME a Booster.  You are automatically a Booster IF you
have a child that attends Dakota High School.  You can come to the Booster meetings to find
out what is happening within the organization.
DO YOU HAVE TO PAY DUES TO BE A BOOSTER?
NO!  Participation in the Booster organization is purely voluntary!
WHAT DO THE BOOSTERS DO WITH THE MONEY THEY RAISE?
The Boosters pass on the money they raise to the various clubs, teams, and organizations
throughout the school, including, but not limited to:  sports teams, DHS Service clubs, Fine Arts
(including Drama), Scholarships, Day of Caring, Senior All Night Party, yearbook, and school
academic departments.  That is just naming a few.
WHEN ARE THE BOOSTER MEETINGS?
Booster meetings are held in the Atrium at Dakota @ 7 pm, usually on the second Monday of
every month.
HOW DO I FIND OUT WHAT WENT ON AT A BOOSTER MEETING THAT I MAY HAVE MISSED?
Come to this website www.dakotaboosters.com and click on the meeting minutes button to read
the minutes from any of the general meetings we have had during the current and prior school
year.
WHAT ACTUALLY GOES ON AT A BOOSTER MEETING?
Learn about school news and improvements, and what activities are coming up for the students.
Talk with the principal about any concerns within the school.  We also discuss details about
where the Booster funds go.  You can also participate in voting for various issues within the
Booster organization.  Find out how to volunteer, and meet other concerned and active parents,
just like you!
HOW DO I VOLUNTEER FOR THE BOOSTERS?
There are a couple of ways to volunteer.  Come to the meetings and find out all about the
upcoming events that the Boosters will be participating with.  There will be sign-up sheets for
these events at the meeting.  You can also go to the upcoming events page of this website to
see where volunteers are needed as well as who to contact for details.
WHAT ARE SOME VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES?
The Boosters regularly sell concessions at most sporting events.  There is also a craft show
sponsored by the Boosters in November of each year, and the Bonfire at the start of every
school year is also run by the Boosters.  There are various other activities throughout the year
that the Boosters participate in.  Come to the meetings to find out!
ARE THERE OTHER WAYS TO VOLUNTEER BESIDES THROUGH BOOSTER ACTIVITIES?
Although there are other ways to volunteer such as teacher's helper or office help, the only way
to get credit within the Booster organization is to work for Booster sponsored activities such as
concessions, craft show, bonfire, etc.  Contact the Booster board if you have questions.
I SEE THE DAKOTA WEAR TABLE AT SPORTING EVENTS.  CAN'T I BUY THE SAME ITEMS
AT THE COUGAR DEN?
No.  The Dakota Wear is completely different than the items you will find in the Cougar Den.
Also, the proceeds stay with the Boosters!
DO I STILL GET PARTICIPATION CREDIT FOR MY CHILD'S CLUB IF I VOLUNTEER AT AN
EVENT THAT IS HOSTED BY SOMEONE OTHER THAN THE BOOSTER CLUB?
No.  Although there are many great opportunities to volunteer at Dakota, the only way to get
participation credit for your child's club or activity is to volunteer for a
Booster sponsored event.
