Band              Ms. Risa Hsu -   Director

 

February 2008

February 29, 2008 All three bands—Concert, Symphonic, and Wind Ensemble—received 1st division ratings at the Band Festival at Anchor Bay High School.  The Wind Ensemble received ones across the board!  Congratulations.  This was the first time in Dakota history that all three bands received 1st division ratings.

 

 March 2008

 March 15, 2008 State Solo & Ensemble competition at Port Huron North High School.

 March 24-29, 2008 Band Trip to Florida.  On March 27, 2008 the band will perform at Epcot. 

 

 

 Upcoming Events:

 Saturday, March 24, 2007 State Solo & Ensemble at Port Huron North High School.   

 Tuesday, April 8, 2008 Band Scholarship auditions.     

 Saturday, April 12 through Tuesday, April 15, 2008—Dakota will host the Macomb County Honors Band.  

 Friday, April 18, 2008 Band and Choir all-night party.

February 28, 2008 The Varsity Choirs of Dakota and Chippewa Valley combined for an after-school District Choral Workshop.  Each choir performed their festival pieces and were coached by Dr. Jerry Blackstone from the University of Michigan.

March 2008

March 1, 2008 Women/’s Choir Festival at University of Michigan

March 5, 2008 Pre-Festival Concert

March 6, 2008 District Choral Festival at Stoney Creek High School

March 18, 2008 School House Roxx Auditions in the choir room after school.

            April 8, 2008 State Solo and Ensemble Festival at the Flint Institute of Music.

           April 11, 2008 School House Roxx Concert in the gym from 6:00-10:00 p.m.

           April 18, 2008 Choir and Band all-night party. 

           April 23, 2208 State Choral Festival at Rochester High School.

Winter Guard - Teresa Pachniak

 

March 2008   

Strom consists of 11 girls.  This year’s show is entitled “The Dark Side of the Rainbow.”   January 19 Storm took 5th place in the West Bloomfield competition, 3rd place in the February 16 Troy Athens competition and 2nd place in the Chippewa Valley competition on March 9.

Drama            Ms. Jeannie Lutz – Director

           

            Upcoming Events:

Save the Date!  The Drama Department will present “Noises Off” on Thursday, April 10, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 12, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets will go on sale April 1.  Noises Off is about a cast of professional actors preparing for their opening night of a farce called, “Nothing On.” Unfortunately, things aren’t going as they should.  Come to the show and find out what happens.
