Arts Report – February 2010
Choir – Mrs.
Sue Catanese, Director
·
Last
month’s performance of Suessical the Musical was well attended and
the play was a huge hit.
·
Six
students went to District Solo and Ensemble and five of them scored 1’s and
will represent Dakota at state solo and ensemble in April.
·
The
entire choir program is preparing for District Choral Festival in March.
·
Auditions
for the show choir are taking place Tuesday, February 9th and
results will be posted on Wednesday February 10th. Required rehearsals will be Thursdays
from 2:30 – 4:00.

Winter Guard –
Storm
·
STORM
came in 5th at their first competition of the season at Plymouth
Canton High School.
·
STORM
will be participating in a MCGC competition at West Bloomfield HS on February
20th.
·
Several
students from STORM will be competing at Troy Athens on February 27th
in solo competition and the full team will be competing on the 28th.
·
STORM
will be conducting a Premier Jewelry Event fundraiser on Thursday, March 4th
in the band room. Send me an email

Band – Ms. Risa
Hsu, Director
·
This
past weekend several members of the band represented Dakota at District Solo
and Ensemble. Dakota students did
great and received high scores.
·
On
Thursday, February 25th, the Dakota Bands will be presenting a
Pre-Festival concert at 7:00 in the auditorium as they continue preparations
for band festival March.
·
On
Friday, February 26th, Dakota Bands will be presenting the second
annual “Dancing with the Stars” at 7:30 in the auditorium. A list of celebrity performers and
judges is on the flyer. Tickets are
available for advance purchase or at the door. This event is well attended and you are
encouraged to purchase tickets in advance.
The funds raised will be used by the band department to purchase much
needed instruments.
