Fine Arts Report – January 2010

 

Choir – Mrs. Sue Catanese, Director

·         There are 55 choir members representing Dakota at the Solo and Ensemble Festival this Friday night at Avondale High School.

·         Next weekend, senior Jeremy Brandelik will represent Dakota in the State Honors Choir in Grand Rapids as part of the Michigan Music Conference.

·         Final preparations are underway for “Suessical the Musical”.  Shows are on January 28th through 30th at 7pm each evening.

·         The choir has just started a cookie dough and jewelry fundraiser.  Contact a choir member or Mrs. Catanese to place an order if interested.

Band – Ms. Risa Hsu, Director

·         Dakota band students in “Suessical” are continuing their preparations.

·         Marching Band and Color Guard will be having their all-night party this Friday/Saturday.

·         The Dakota Wintergaurd team ‘Storm’ is preparing for their competition season.

·         Back by popular demand is the band fundraiser, “Dancing with the Stars” featuring a command performance by the Dakota Dancing Band Dads.  Several local celebrities including this year’s Miss Michigan will be competing for our panel of celebrity judges.  Assistant Superintendant, Ron Roberts will be the Master of Ceremonies again this year.  This event will be on Friday, February 26th.  More information will be available next month.
