Dakota Booster GENERAL Membership Meeting
December 14,

Meeting began at 7:08 pm.
Opening Remarks:
Thank yous were read from the
DHS Dance Team, Challenge Day participants, and Mr. Korth who donated
repairs to the two blowers for the custodians.
Stephanie Lange:
Stephanie
gave an explanation of the Coalition for Youth. Ms. Lange had
handouts for the Lock in for Life night being held January 22, 2010
that will not only have activities but workshops such as healthily
relationships,
teen drama, dealing with parents for the students. A handout for
Digital Citizenship, a Family Night out program on the responsibility
of digital content and actions using the Internet, etc., to be held,
February 3, 2010
Minutes of the last General
Membership: were approved by Mary Ann Cuto (1) and Lori Labuddie
(2).
Treasurer’s Report:
Checking Balance: $ 30,326.05 Savings Balance: $ 4,496.27
Donations Pending: $ 9,759.68

Student Report:
Kelsey Steenberger read for
us the morning announcements of December 14, 2009.
Administration Report:
-Mr. Heethuis: December 11, Progress Reports were sent home with students.
- Hero in the Hallway program is underway starting with an assembly with Kevin Epling. -Jr’s – PACT results are in and teachers are working on breaking down each question to specify where our students need help.
- March 12 the Jr.’ will be having their MME testing.
- $1,300 was donated to the Community Closet by the DHS staff
- Handouts were made available detailing the 2010 Bond Issue Program
- Lockers were checked by
“drug”
dogs on December 11. There were 15 responses that resulted in
45 lockers being looked at with 6 items of interest and only 1 student
being suspended.
Fine Arts:
Choir: 12/4 performed in Act
1 of the Nutcracker, 12/13 they are performing with the Detroit Chamber
Winds, Seussical practice is underway.
Band: The DHS Marching Band
performed their 2nd year in the Thanksgiving Day Parade.
On 12/16 the winter guards Fundraiser at Marble Slab Creamery from
6pm-9pm.
Service Report:
-Inklusive Underground meets every other Monday to write and share writing. They held a Rock the Mic night last Tuesday and will hold another one in the spring.
-NHS is busy this month helping various elementary schools in our district with Breakfast with Santa and story time.
-Key Club is also helping out
with Breakfast with Santa. Last Saturday, they were involved with
the annual Kiwanis Christmas Party which benefited the needy children
in our area. They are also involved with “Adapt a Family” giving
tree this holiday season.
Sports Report:
-Thank You to all the volunteers who helped with the Craft Show.
-Girls Swim took 3rd in the MAC
-Basketball concessions are
being sold in the hallway by the pool. The start time for volunteers
is 5-5:30pm.
Craft Show:
-$17,872.20 was made at this years craft show. It is up approx. $2,000 from last year.
-The date for next year Craft
Show is November 13, 2010. We are in need of a Chairperson.
This is a 9 month job.

Donation Requests:
-Boys Varsity Basketball is
requesting $790 to purchase 20 Travel Bags.
Donation Ballots were passed
out to those members in attendance that was eligible to vote.

All donation requests presented
tonight have been approved by the General Membership.
The DHS Booster board will
be losing many members because their last student is a senior this
year.
Please consider being part of the booster board.
