Dakota Booster GENERAL Membership Meeting
November 9, 2009

Bond Proposal
Presentation:
Mr. Heethuis & Mr. Ron Roberts presented a Power Point titled: 2010 Capital Improvement Program. This presentation highlighted the bond monies the district will be presenting to the public to be voted on by the Board of Education on December 7 at their meeting. The proposed public ballot voting will take place on February 23, 2010.
Opening Remarks:
Thank You notes were read from the Girls Golf team for their new golf bags. One was brought in to show everyone what was purchased.
Mr. Korth’s company, Classic Turf, purchased and donated 2 blowers for the custodians and will be repairing the 2 blowers the custodians are currently using.
Minutes of Last General Membership Meeting were approved by Joanne Kirk(1) and Thomas Greise(2).
Treasurer’s Report:
Checking Balance: $21,009.28 Savings Balance: $ 4,496.08
Donations Pending: $ 8,185.03 Balance Remaining: $25,505.36
Concessions for the Lan Cruse game $1,590 gross, Chippewa $2,952 gross, Eisenhower $3,802 gross.
Report was approved by Mary Ann Cuoto (1) and Kim Zuchora (2).
Student Report:
Kelsey Steenberger read for us the morning announcements.
-No passes are accepted for any MHSAA event.
-Boys Basketball –those interested in trying out for JV, V meeting Nov. 10
-Girls Basketball – tryouts begin Nov 9.
-Cheer – Competitive Cheer Team tryout clinics begin Nov. 9&10
-MetroPCS is offering scholarship to graduation seniors. Application deadline is Nov 25.
- Michigan Council of Women in Technology Foundation is sponsoring several scholarships. www.mcwtf.org for information.
-2009 Dakota Variety Show auditions this week. Tryouts Nov 9-10th.
-November 13 Reports mailed home.
-November 14 – Boosters Craft Show 10am-4pm.
Administration Report:
-Mr. Heethuis:
- Challenge Day -100 students plus staff meet and spent the day learning about how we treat each other. They are beginning “Be The Change” and will have meetings during lunch T-10-12, TH-9am.
-Leadership Day is November 10. Skills in general leadership.
-Cougar Closet needs food that can make a meal. Administration set forth a challenge to themselves called “Make-em-pay” and has raised $250.
- Report Cards will be mailed November 13, 2009
- Fines have been cleared from last year and all have been updated.
- Student Recognition Program is up and running
-Coffee with the Principal will be November 24, 8:30am.
Fine Arts Report
Choir: College Concert was held
10/29. Varsity choir will play at
Band: Audello’s fund raiser November 10 4pm-9pm 20% of sales will go to the band. The band will have 2 tables at the craft show and they will be selling flip-flops and scrap booking supplies. The band will be performing at the Detroit Thanksgiving Parade. Band winter concert on December 10.
Service Report:
-Es De Moda is ordering fashion T-shirts for club members and anyone else who would like to order one. They are also making fashionable lanyards to comply with school policy. This coming week they will be making fleece tie blankets.
-Ecology Club will be teaching the
students at DHS about the new and continuing recycling opportunities found
here. They are also going to
-Key Club is involved with “Project learn” which involves going to the Boys and Girls Club 3 times a week to help tutor 4th grade students at Fox. They also help out at a couple local nursing homes 2X a month.
Sports Report:
-Thank you from the boosters for all those who have volunteered. We are looking for 4-5 people for each Basketball game to sell concessions. Need to start at 6:30pm.
-Wrestling meeting November 11, 6:30
Craft Show Report:
-171 spaces sold more calls still coming in. 6am crafters can start setting up, the doors open at 10am. Kitchen time is from 12:45-3:45 that we need more help.
Web Site Report:
-The Booster web site now has a direct link for volunteers to sign up on.
Donation Requests:
-JV Dance team is requesting $750 for performance accessories.
-Leadership Day is requesting $998.56 for t-shirts
-Wrestling team, both V & JV, are requesting $1,666 for 34 team warm-ups
-V Dance is requesting $1,850 for the purchase of 29 competition and game performance costumes.
Donation Ballots were passed out to those members in attendance to those who were eligible to vote.
