Dakota Booster GENERAL Membership Meeting Minutes

November 12, 2007

Meeting started at 7:07 pm

Minutes from the last Board Meeting were approved.

Treasurer’s Report:

Savings: $4,489.82 Donations Pending: $5,913.99

Checking: $23,055.74 Balance: $21,631.57

Treasurer’s report was approved.

Administration:

• Plans are underway, the 9^th grade center will be opening next year.
• International Baccalaureate Program will be starting next school year. The program is a transferable international education. Over 20 school districts will be involved. The program will be located within the Chippewa Valley district, most likely at Seneca Middle School (19 mile/Romeo Plank).
• The school newsletter will have a new format. Distribution of the newsletter will be 6 times per year.
• New posters are around the school listing prohibited items (Ipods, hats, etc)
• Shifted parking lots – stop signs and one way arrows on are order. Visitor parking will be available once the signs come in. Administration will be looking into the traffic issues, the signs will help reduce some of the congestion.
• New Security Procedures: Visitors coming into the building will have their ID scanned. The ID is checked, a tag with photo will be printed. Security guards are posted at each door.
• Parent question: Students are walking from the west wing to DHS. Administration will look into this situation.
• Tardy Sweeps started – if a student receives 4 tardy marks, he/she will get detention.
• Michigan Merit Exam – CV schools adding 3^rd component to the Work Keys portion.
• Report cards went out on Saturday
• Spring conferences – 2 evenings only – no day conferences per district/teacher contract.

Student Report:

Student Activities will hold a can food drive for the next 2 weeks. On 12/10, Student Government will hold their annual Christmas party for Turning Point. Staff/Student Flag Football game will be held on Tuesday at 6:00 pm.

Fine Arts Report:

Band:

11/23 Gross Point Thanksgiving parade.

12/6 Band Concert at 7:00 pm

12/13 Marching Band Banquet

1/26/08: Band Scrapbooking event

Drama: Oklahoma! November 15-18^th. Tickets are $6 students, $8 adults. Purchase tickets during all lunches and up to 45 minutes before performance time.

Choir: On November 16^th six DHS choir students have been selected to perform in the Michigan Schools Vocal Music Association’s Regional Honors Choir.

11/21: Cookie Dough Delivery

12/1: Regional Honors Choir Performance

12/12: Holiday Concert at 7 pm in the DHS Auditorium

Service Report:

NHS Welcome Breakfast during 1^st and 2^nd hour. NHS Induction Ceremony will be held on 11/28.

Sports Report: Volunteers needed for Basketball season, home games are 12/7 and 12/18

Donation Requests:

The following donations were approved by the Board and General Membership:

1. Boys Baseball requested $4,129.99 to purchase the Big Bubba Practice Net
2. JV Dance Team requested $1,232.77 for performance
3. Fibers and Fabrics Class requested $448.99 to purchase software upgrades for embroidery machines used during class
4. Received several requests to purchase Championship Shirts for the following teams:

Varsity Girls Volleyball - $81 Varsity Football - $405 JV Dance - $90

JV Football - $360 Varsity Cheer - $112.50 Girls Swim/Dive - $157.50

Varsity Dance - $144 JV Cheer - $76.50

Craft Show: 162 vendors, attendance 2,290 people. Vendors very happy with attendance, overall vendors were pleased. Thank you to all the volunteers that helped make the Craft Show a big success. Annette and Larry volunteered to chair the craft show next year (thank you!)
