Dakota Booster GENERAL Membership Meeting

September 17, 2007

Meeting started at 7:08 pm

Minutes from the last Board meeting will be approved at the October 8^th meeting.

Treasurer’s Report:

Savings: $9,481.99 Checking: $10,175.22 Balance: $19,657.21

Donations carryover: $9,727.44 (waiting on invoices from Varsity Cheer, Girl’s Tennis and Athletic Department). Treasurer’s report was approved.

Administration:

Mr. Fusco delivered the Admin. Report. Open house was a success, positive feedback from parents. Secretary for the Principal, Diane Kraft retired and her replacement is Janice Gunning. Friday night is the big football game against Chippewa Valley. Parents are asked to place their vote at the Fox 2 News – Game of the week. If chosen, Fox 2 will broadcast live on the news that evening.

Student Report:

Homecoming is Oct. 6^th. Ticket sales will begin on Monday and distributed the week of Oct. 1^st. Envelopes are located in the Activities Center, no limit on tickets this year. Seniors are allowed to bring guests. Nominations will also take place for homecoming court.

Fine Arts Report:

Band: The Band marched in the Richmond Parade on Sept. 9^th. Entertainment Book Sales began on Sept. 5^th. Oct. 5^th is the homecoming parade. Oct 9^th is the Zap a Snack kickoff, and the band will march in the Thanksgiving Day parade.

Choir: Their annual Fashion Show will take place on Oct. 14^th, tickets are $40 ea. The National Anthem must be song at all student activities. Check with the choir teacher for auditions.

Drama: This year’s production will be Oklahoma. Auditions will be on Sept 13^th and 14^th.

Winter Guard: Tryouts are in November.

Service Report:

Key Club meeting will be held on Tuesday. Science Olympiad meeting is also on Tuesday.

Sports Report: This year the sports trustee will not be reporting so much on scores and stats. This information can be located at www.dakotacougars.com The primary role of the sports trustee is running the concessions and seeking volunteers. Signup sheets are always at each membership meeting.

Donation Requests: None

Craft Show: Scheduled for November 10, 2007. Volunteers are needed. Applications are on-line if interested in participating. Set-up is on Nov. 9^th.

Website: Check it out! www.dakotaboosters.com. The site lists meeting dates, sports information, upcoming events.

New Business:

• Admission to all sporting activities is $1-$2. Gate admission goes toward covering the costs of athletics. Approx. 6% comes from gate admissions, 27% from athletic fee’s and the remainder comes from the Board of Education.
• Middle school children attending student activities must have parent supervision.
• Discount cards for school athletic events are available for purchase at the ticket gates.
• A parent asked why the walkways at the football games are not clear. Administration will check into asking security. Parents would like a report at the next membership meeting.

• Guest Speaker: Stephanie Lange – Student Specialist at DHS introduced several programs available to all DHS students. A short video was viewed: “A Parent that Hosts, Loses the Most” and several handouts were distributed to parents.

• A request was made to the Board to address the way credits are given for volunteering. The board invited the individual to the next board meeting for an open discussion.

Old Business:

Cougar Night: Cancelled due to rain. All volunteers will receive credit if they were signed up for the event.

Gift card Raffle:

$50 Target card went to Sue Arena (ticket number – 4770004)

$50 MJR card went to David Andrews (ticket number – 4770016)
