·        With 4,000 people arriving to this area every morning, the administration is working hard to establish a plan that makes sense for safe, efficient traffic flow.  New color coded signs will be coming soon:  green and white for Dakota and green and yellow for Seneca.

·        Widely Important Goal (WIG) established by staff for successful student learning is to encourage partnership between parents and staff.  Working towards each staff member having a website with links to helpful resources.  Also looking at making school web page more user friendly.

·        Concessions -- Homecoming Game is Friday, September 26.  Concession help is needed.  Sign-up sheets are located at front table.  We cannot open if we do not get enough volunteers to help.  A volunteer shift in concessions usually lasts 2-3 hours.  Double participation credits can be earned for working two shifts.  Participation credits were explained in response to questions that were asked.  We took in $4,000 at last varsity game.

·        In response to a parent’s question regarding a lacrosse club rumor, Mr. Heethuis acknowledged that a lacrosse club has been requested and looked into but nothing definitive .

Craft Show Report:

New Business:

·        Out of the Darkness Walk -- Stephanie Lange spoke about a depression awareness program at Dakota funded by a grant last year.  Juniors and seniors gave presentations to each classroom and started an after-school depression awareness group, which resulted in Dakota never experiencing a completed suicide.  Dakota is the first high school in the country to host an Out of the Darkness Walk on October 11 for depression awareness.  It is a 3-mile walk beginning at Dakota and going through nearby subdivisions.  There is no entry fee, but donations will be accepted.  Spike from Mojo in the Morning radio show will attend, and food donations will be provided from businesses within the community.  Registration begins at 2:00 p.m. and the walk begins at 3:00 p.m.  Volunteers will be needed between noon and 9 p.m.

·        Proposed Amendment to By-Laws – Everyone in attendance was eligible to vote allowing participation credit for attending booster meetings, which would not count for more that 25% of total participation required and would also require working at least four events.  When signing meeting attendance sheet, must indicate which team or group will receive credit.  The amendment passed.

Motion to adjourn at 8:03 p.m.

Next Meeting Schedules:

·        Board Meeting is Monday, October 6, 7:00 p.m., in the Community Room.

·        General Membership Meeting is Monday, October 13, 7:00 p.m., in the Atrium

Respectfully Submitted:

Chris Liptak (DHS Booster Secretary)
