Dakota Booster GENERAL Meeting

January 15, 2007

Meeting started at 7:01 pm

Minutes from last Board Meeting were approved.

Treasurer’s Report:
Checking balance is $18,213.42, Savings Balance is $29,326.58.
Donations Pending: $7,019.80. Balance: $40,520.20.
Treasurer’s Report was approved.

Administration:

• Staff and Administration met today, Jan. 15^th. Teachers would like to be trained in the new Michigan Merit Exam. The new exam will be implemented with the current Junior class. Something new, is the Work Keys portion (the rationale maybe difficult for the students). Employment and/or College Admissions will require both ACT and Work Key scores. Both scores will drive the type of job a student can apply for. More information to come.
• Beginning next year, 9^th grade students will start the new Michigan Merit curriculum and new graduation requirements will be implemented.
• Jan. 16^th is a Secondary Boundary Community Meeting. Results are scheduled to go to the Board of Education meeting on Jan. 22^nd.
• Dance Team: JV and Varsity placed 1^st in Pom and Jazz at the Motor City Competition.

Student Report: Snowcoming is scheduled for Feb. 10, 8:00 pm at DHS. Ticket sales will begin the last week of January. Students will pickup envelopes and drop-off payment at the office. No limit on ticket sales. This year’s theme is “Under the Sea”.
All-School Variety Show is scheduled for Feb. 14 and 15^th.

Service Report: Science Olympiad meeting is scheduled this week.
NHS Holiday workshop went well. NHS had a meeting on Thursday, Jan. 10^th.
Quiz Bowl practice is scheduled for Jan 30^th and the competition is Jan. 31^st.

Fine Arts Report:
Band: Bingo fundraiser is every Saturday at 10:30 am at the Bingo Hall on Gratiot and 21 mile.

Choir: Rehearsal for States will be Jan 25. District and Solo Ensemble Festival is Feb 2nd and 3rd at Oxford High School.

Winter Guard: Jan. 13^th is Field Day competition in Grand Blanc. Jan 20^th is a competition at Ferndale High School.

Performing Arts: Scrapbook Night is scheduled for Feb 2^nd from 5:00 to midnight at DHS atrium.

Sports Report:
Boy’s Basketball: Game scheduled this Friday against Chippewa at 7:00 pm. JV is at 5:30 pm

Boy’s Swimming: Next meet is scheduled for Friday, at 6:00 pm against Romeo.

Cheerleading: Cheer Competition is scheduled for Jan. 17^th at 6:30 pm. DHS will host another Cheer competition on March 3^rd.

Craft Show:
300 Craft show applications will be mailed out this week.
