Dakota Booster GENERAL Meeting

November 13, 2006

Meeting started at 7:04 pm.  Meeting minutes were approved.

Treasurer’s Report:
Checking balance is $29,948.48, Savings Balance is $4,318.25. 
Donations Pending: $2,642.25.  Balance: $31,624.48. Report was approved (1st by Kathy, 2nd by Angie)

Administration:

Dialogue Night on Internet Safety was held.  Excellent program and good information shared about websites our children have access too, such as MySpace.com. Football Semi-Finals Playoff is  scheduled  for Saturday 11/18/06 at Troy Athens High School.

Security Guards are posted at the West WIng and Main Campus on a full-time basis. Future  government voting will take place in the Auxiliary Gym.

Student Report:
Student Government is having it’s annual Christmas Carol event on 12/11/06. 2nd Annual Challenge Day is scheduled for 12/18/06, 100 students and teachers are chosen to discuss social issues going on in their daily lives. Can Food Drive takes place until 12/18/06.

Service Report:
Mrs. Belanger is Dakota’s new Student Activities Director.

NHS: Held their Nov. general membership meeting on 11/2/06. Tutoring available every Thursday in the Media Center from 2:15-3:15 pm

Design Technology: 2006/07 schedule is posted on the announcements page on DHS website.

Es De Moda: Held a bake sale and candy sale 10/30/06.

International and Cultural Diversity Club: Selling T-shirts for $15. Order forms are located in room 104 and 122.

Ecology Club: Is currently brainstorming elementary school lesson plans and planning to teach them 1/17/06.

Fine Arts Report:
Band: Fruit Sale starts 11/13/06. A dinner concert is scheduled for 12/7. Instead of charging a fee for admission, the Band Scholarship Fund will be asking for donations.  11/24/06 the Band will be participating in the Gross Pointe Thanksgiving Day Parade.  12/16/06 will be a Bingo Fundraiser, 21 Mile and Gratiot Bingo Hall.

Choir: Cookie Dough pickup is scheduled for 11/20/06. Three students were chosen from DHS to participate in the  Regional Honors Choir. Holiday concert is scheduled for  12/13/06 at 7:00 pm. The Choir is currently planning a trip to Tennessee.

Winter Guard: Bingo Fundraiser will be held on 11/18, 11/25. 12/2 and 12/9 at the Bingo Hall at 21 Mile and Gratiot.

Sports Report:
Varsity Football: The team defeated Clarkston Friday to be the Regional Champs! The will take on Warren Cousino, Saturday, 11/18 at Troy Athens High School.

Girl’s Basketball:  The team is taking on Port Huron Northern in the district finals tonight.

Girl’s Tennis: Gold Division Champions!  The team was awarded the Good Sportsmanship Award and the All-Academic Award.  Way to Go!

Hockey: A scrimmage will beheld on 11/18 against Royal Oak. The first regular game will be on 11/24 against Anchor Bay.

Boy’s Basketball: Season starts on 12/5, they will play Ford II at Ford. JV at 5:30 pm and Varsity at 7:00 pm.

Varsity Dance:  Girl’s varsity dance team took 1st place in Pom and 4th place in Jazz at the UDA Dance competition held on 11/4.

Dakota Wear:
Sold $220.00 of Dakota Wear during the last Varsity Football game.  Volunteer openings available, need help selling Dakota Wear at school events.

 

Craft Show:
Kathy Czop is looking for a replacement next year.  Her last child will be a Senior next year. This will be a perfect opportunity to train with Kathy before she departs Dakota. Thank you to everyone that help with the Craft Show.  A special thanks to Jeff and Ed for managing the parking lot. A Craft Show Survey stated, “Student Volunteer’s, GREAT JOB !”

Our condolences go to Lepoudre Family, Linda will be missed dearly. Linda passed away on Nov. 7th fighting a long battle of Cystic Fibrosis.

Donation Requests:

1)     Winter Guard  has requested $641.18 for Performance Outfits for the 06/07 season. Approved

2)     Fibers & Fabric Class has requested $459.47 for (7) chair mats to be used in the Fashion and Sewing Class. Board Approved.

3)     Fine Arts Department requested $2,042.17 to purchase (2) Large Flat File Cabinets to store large flat papers and art boards.  Approved
